My plan for 2022 is simple: keep going! The five objectives I set in 2021 remain relevant, with some minor updates. I plan to
- Continue creating new music
- Continue improving my guitar and vocal skills
- Refine my live performance repertoire
- Continue performing regularly (e.g., via livestream, at open mics)
- Begin creating my band (as COVID restrictions ease)
I hoped to begin creating the band last year, but I never got to the point where I felt comfortable spending time in an enclosed space with other musicians. I should get past that point in the coming months, as the pandemic becomes endemic. I’m looking forward to drawing others into my music – I expect they’ll make it better.
Development of my own skills remains a top priority. Who wants to join a band with a front man who can’t play and sing his own songs? No one. I’m feeling confident, after a year of investment in guitar and vocal skills. But there’s always room to get better. And ongoing learning will continue to broaden my horizons as songwriter and arranger.
I’ll keep you updated on my live performance schedule, as it takes shape. For now, expect to see further episodes of the Tom Springer Music happy half hour in the coming months, as well as random posts of practice sessions.
If you know any musicians in the Boston area who might like to join a band, then ask them to listen to a few of my songs and get in touch if they like what they hear. I’m looking for a drummer, bassist, lead guitarist and a guitar/keyboard multi-instrumentalist.
Last but not least, send along any ideas for band names. I have a list of possibilities, but haven’t yet hit upon one that I really like.
Thanks, as always, for your interest and support.
Tom
